Over the years, the majority of my work has been commissioned – whether through interior designers, corporate collectors, or individuals.
Through video conferencing, email, and express deliveries (of fabrics, paint swatches, etc.), I gain a clear understanding my client’s request and their parameters for each commissioned piece.
This process is simple and requires only four things:
A 50% deposit to get started. This deposit is non–refundable and will be applied toward the final payment of the commissioned work.
The size of the finished work (dimensions excluding the frame).
The colors you would like to have in this work, along with colors of surrounding areas, fabrics, etc. It's also helpful to have paint swatches, fabric swatches, and even images of the areas where the work will hang. All of these can be express shipped to me.
2-4 images of my past work (or work that you like) with a description of what you like/or/dislike about each image. This allows me to further understand your desires and design a composition based on your preferences. Please note, I will not copy another artist’s work, but will attempt to find inspiration from your feedback.
Currently, the time for commissioned work is 10-12 weeks once items 1-4 have been satisfied. During this process, I will send you preliminary sketches and images of the work in progress for your approval at each stage. If there is anything that needs changing at each point of approval, please let me know in writing at that time so it can be addressed properly. Once the work is complete and approved, the final payment is due and payable in full. At that point, I will await shipping and delivery instructions from the client and the work will be packed, shipped, and delivered at the client’s expense.
My goal with commissioned pieces is to be a good listener, a good communicator, be open and honest with my clients, and fair throughout this process. In essence, I want both of us to be happy, enjoy this process, and be thrilled with the end result!
I welcome your inquiries and look forward to discussing your next commission.
